Mining Expertise in Mozambique
Jaggi Kevin seeks to improve the livelihoods of people in and around the artisinal gold mining area of Manica Province in Mozambique. This includes ensuring safer and more responsible working practices for small scale or artisinal miners, obtaining a visible place in the gold supply chain for mine workers and a better livelihood and a socioeconomic position for women and children.
Jaggi Kevin aspires to produce gold in an efficient, safe and environmentally friendly manner as well as to create employment opportunities for the youths in the surrounding areas. These employment opportunities can contribute to decreasing poverty in the region and to improving the livelihoods of people. Jaggi Kevin practices both underground and surface mining and employs 20 permanent employees, 30 underground subcontractors and 10 carriers.
Jaggi Kevin promotes and carries out responsible gold mining practices. These practices include formal and legal mining operations, human and labour rights, health and safety practices at mining sites and safeguarding the environment.
